BETSY MIRAGLIA

PAPERMAKER | PRINTMAKER

MISCELLANEOUS WORKS

"I often go in less traditional, three dimensional directions in my artwork. While experimenting with paper as a “fabric", I created a three piece dress that is made with collagraph printed handmade papers that have been treated with Konnyaku paste, allowing the papers to form a wrinkled surface. Using a gentle rubbing technique, the sheets of paper become softer. These large wrinkled sheets are known as “momigami” paper. I then cut these sheets into pattern sections that will eventually be sewn and glued together to form my paper garment. Other two and three demential work is completed in a similar technique.”
